Trademark Expert (m-f-d) - Temporary Employment

Responsible for independently providing a complete range of trademark for a regional trademark portfolio and global franchise trademark related issues in close collaboration with business clients. Supports with input at a cross-divisional level and manage relation with some Trademark Vendors.

Responsibilities:

  • Major Accountabilities
    • Proactively and independently fulfill Trademark (TM) operational tasks in all areas of TM portfolio management and guarantees continuity thereof (e.g. review, analyze and manage deadlines )
  • Trademark Work Support
    • Independently draft responses to domestic and international TM agents with limited attorney input; provide some supervision and guidance of draft responses to junior trademark paralegals
    • Communicates with clients in the region about status of trademark searches and applications
    • Responsible for TM filing, docketing and maintenance
    • Responsible for TM renewals within allocated region/countries
  • Processes and Data Quality
    • Identifies and communicate data inconsistencies outside standard guidelines and rules; analyses and remedies them and reports findings and solutions to appropriate stakeholders
    • Guarantees continuity of TM operational procedures in absence of supervisor
    • Organizes and proactively coordinates attorney work relating to TM matters with the relevant countries in the region or with the global franchise
  • Projects
    • Participates in the introduction of new TM attorneys, specialists and other TM paralegals
    • Provides input to training courses and role development within the TM initiating and processing regular Data Quality reports

Skills Required:

  • Communicate in English and German, both written and orally
  • Provide training/coaching to junior TM paralegals when appropriate
  • Able to provide and manage complex TM operational tasks in a timely, professional and reliable manner (Feedback from clients, attorneys, specialist and supervisors)
  • Identify potential improvements to the database systems and monitor/coordinate changes with appropriate stakeholders
  • Review and make recommendations to appropriate stakeholders regarding new database features to ensure that they provide a proper operating system
  • a team motivator and has exemplary can-do, proactive approach (attorney, specialist, team and manager feedback)
  • Excellent and extensive knowledge of job-related software and websites (e.g. Memotech/iPACT, Corsearch platform, Madrid Monitor, EUIPO database, TM View...)
