The Medical Lead for our Bone Patient Value Unit in Japan is playing a key role in the evolution of company's patient-focused strategy (for both Patients and Stakeholder) to improve patient care through solutions that enable systematic detection & treatment for osteoporosis in appropriate Patients, with a focus on post-fracture patient care. All strategies, tactics, and programs will be focused around positive impact on patients.

This position works in alignment with other Japan Bone PVU team members and regional medical and market access teams to focus on improving access to care and identifying opportunities for pilot programs, demonstration projects and other opportunities to help health systems, integrated delivery networks, hospitals and other providers to implement Fracture Liaison Services or other programs to enhance post fracture identification and treatment of osteoporosis.

Key Activities and deliverables:

  • Serve as the Medical lead for engagement with Clinicians and Provider Groups on how to treat more patients after fracture, including working with External Engagement and our partners to adapt and develop Guidelines and Care Pathways utilizing innovative Channels for interaction
  • Drive Peer to Peer / Multichannel and KOL engagement strategy, provider DSE initiatives, and engagement with commercial field teams to train on solutions
  • Direct engagement with KOL clinicians, Clinician Panels and feedback; Engage with field team for insights
  • Engagement with Clinicians and Provider Groups on Guidelines and Care Pathways and Innovative Care Solutions
  • Engage with field teams to train on solutions and support training of key clinicians, nurses and staff Co-create solutions for customer facing teams, focusing on data provided and consolidated from the patient post-fracture care experience that will optimize organizational efficiency within the regional medical groups
  • Provide technical support and content expertise to medical information and internal and external healthcare providers
  • Build collaborations with key external stakeholders including patient organizations, health outcomes opinion leaders, and health care providers Lead efforts for data generation and for the development of data displays
  • Prepare and give presentations for internal training and to external audiences Represent UCB at key medical conferences and congresses
  • Provide medical support for key commercial activities
  • Establish relationships with external experts and patient advocacy groups
  • Ensure consistent medical communications


  • Minimum 3 years of pharmaceutical or biotechnology experience, with at least 2 of those years in medical affairs preferred
  • Successful track record in developing relationships with key decision makers in the healthcare ecosystem
  • Understanding of drug development, medical affairs and commercial activities
